We took BTS to Chatuchuk at around 10am.
We spent the whole morning there
and headed back to Siam to have Japanese food for lunch and
then met Rudeeporn. |
Rudeeporn took her daughter
Gwow, an adorable 10-year old, with her. We hired another MPV to
take us to Amphawa, a local floating market frequented by Thai, thus
less touristy. The ride was around 1 hour. |
|
|
Rudeeporn said that Amphawa's
floating market only operates on weekend evenings. We
arrived at Amphawa at around 4:30pm and toured around Wat Amphawan
Chetiyaram, an over 200 years old temple. After that we headed
for the canal. The street was full of hawkers selling all kinds
of groceries, food and clothing so the street was literally packed.
We further strolled along the canal
and found that a lot of accessory stores along it. I bought my
favorite BYOB there and some extras as souvenir for Tracy and my
sister.
|
We finally squeezed ourselves
out from the crowd to this coffee shop with a roof top. This is
indeed a balcony on the roof overlooking the canal.
Nice
nice.. Rudeeporn suggested that we could go on a boat trip on the
canal to watch fireflies. I had never seen any firefly and I was
excited to it. We hired a boat for ourselves for BHT500.
We started our journey at around 6pm making a stop at Wat Chulamani.
After it went all dark, our boat strolled along the bushed shore and
then we saw them... it's amazing, like sparkling lights on a Christmas
tree! Our 'captain' said that it was not indeed the season for
fireflies! What a pity the lights were not strong enough for us
to capture them on camera nor video. |

After the trip had finished,
we damn tourists went shopping again! Poor Rudeeporn and her
daughter Gwow accompanied us until approx. 8pm and we headed back to
Bangkok. The car dropped us off at Central World again as the
girls wanted to buy some more snacks for souvenirs. We
eventually headed back to hotel at around 10pm. Very tired but
contented. |
