Baroville
- Troyes
La
Rose des Vents |

We
had got no plan for our last day in France, we were thinking of
going to Troyes or Disneyland Resort. Finally we took the
advantage that we were in the middle of a champagne route to make
another champagne making tour. Sarah originally wanted to book
us to a
champagne
maker where she used to order champagne but the maker was not
available in the morning. She tried some others whom she knew
with no luck. She then helped us calling, must have been over
a dozen, and finally found one who could accept us and conduct the
tour in English at 10am. It was around 20 minutes away and it
was already 9:35am so we rush to go and it was a pity that we could
not stay longer with Sarah & James the lovely couple. ¡@
We drove off
to Baroville (18km) and met Line, our guide, who took us on for an
hour tour around the making of Barfontarc champagnes.
Barfontarc is a co-operative of 3 villages, Baroville,
Fontaine and Arconville. It's a relative
big champagne
maker comparing to the one we visited before.
Line
explained the process in fluent
English and
it's kind of filling in the blanks and
gaps to me.
Check out my
album of wine making to see through the different processes. ¡@
We finished
our tasting tour at around 11am and bought a few bottles to bring
home. We continued with our trip to go to Troyes (79km) before
heading back to Paris. ¡@
We eventually
didn't make it to Troyes city centre as we saw a lot of factory outlets
right after we enter Troyes. It has a lot of brands and
we spent all the time in Millet's outlet. Alan bought a beanie
and some other hiking gear and I bought a blouse which normally was
selling at around HK$600 and now only HK$290! ¡@
We founded a
Carrefour near-by and went shopping for the night's dinner. We
bought a roast chicken, a few plates of ready-to-eat pasta, wine of
course, cheese, smoked salmon and smoked ham etc and again, a case
of oyster, this time bigger, all no. 2.
We
headed towards our chambre,
La Rose des Vents (156km) for the night
at 4pm. ¡@
Because we did
not want to stay a night in Paris thus I had
to
find a B&B close to the airport. La Rose des Vents is in a
residential area. Our rooms were on the top floor of the big
house and we had our farewell dinner inside room. We toasted
with our champagne from Lallement and then drank all the reds and
cleaned out most of the food and were bed by 11pm. Julie's
flight the next morning was departing at 10am so we needed to go
latest by 8am. We arranged breakfast at 7:30am instead.
Bonne nuit! ¡@
