We
had breakfast at 8am. It was a very cold day. The
thermometer in our car told us that it was only 3c again! And
it was again raining. We had breakfast in Corinne's warm
kitchen.
After
that, we walked around a bit to see how lovely her house was.
She said she was running the B&B business for almost 10 years now
and we were their 1st group of Chinese! She wanted me to write
on her livre d'or in Chinese and of course I did.
La
Sciere situates on a mountain by a small stream. If you walked
out from the kitchen and you will see the beautiful river flowing
across in front of you.
She has a big
stone cottage which I don't think we can see any of them in Asia.
We were all enchanted by the wood, huge fireplace, furniture and
fauna and flora inside and outside the house. The chambre is a
very simple one but it has an unique feel and ambience. We
again very satisfied with our choice :)
We then headed
to Nancy (143km) in the north. Our host, Anna, in Chateau de
Jaulny highly recommended the city to us. The city has got a
lot of magnificent 18thC group of buildings in Nancy has been on the
list since December 1983 when it was chosen as being of ¡§truly
outstanding interest
and representing universal values".
¡@
We also had
lunch in
Flo
Brasserie L'Excelsior (since 1911), which is a very famous
restaurant in Nancy. It has a large oyster and seafood bar at
the entrance. ¡@
We had a
2-hour lunch and then further walked around the area around Nancy
Gare. A lot of ancient old buildings and along the streets
were shopping areas. We strolled along the streets for another
hour and then got on to our next chambre for the night,
Le Ferme des
Tourterelles in d'Eclance (150km). ¡@
We arrived at
around 5pm and the Sarah, our host, took us to our cottage, a
2-storey independent townhouse. Got
3
bedrooms and a big living room with a real fireplace. Sarah
and James, our hosts are English! The chambre is of 5-star
luxury grade. It has got a large fully equipped kitchen too.
The couple is very serious about choosing their champagne and wine.
We had dinner at 7pm which was started by a glass of champagne and
different canapes. And we just loved their reds. The 1st
one we had was extremely full body.
Very
smooth to taste. Indeed the white was also very good but the
reds were just too good to miss. ¡@
Our dessert
was as excellent, they were a citrus pudding and fresh fruit in
cream. Really yummy. We moved back to the sitting room
to finish the wine and continue our chit chats. Alan enjoyed
the wine and was a bit drunk after 10pm. He excused himself
and the rest of us stayed until 11pm, which was our 1st late night
in France! Really enjoyed it! ¡@
